This new ambulatory care center forms a strong outpatient focus for the existing Glenbrook hospital in Glenview, Illinois. The three-level, 150,000 SF structure houses the Kellogg Cancer Center, the Northshore Neurological Institute and the Urologic Institute, all of which offer easy public access to patients receiving outpatient care. The building also functions as one of two main entries to the hospital campus and connects all interior circulation paths with public amenities including café, gifts, pharmacy and waiting areas. Wayfinding is further simplified by proximity of exterior views along the primary path between the two entries.
The entry lobby is open, light filled and includes a serene water feature, fireplace and abundant interior landscaping. It is an ideal space to wait, reflect and decompress. The architecture is simple, involving the campus palette of articulated precast concrete, profile metal panels, horizontal windows and large welcoming glass entry canopies. The campus standard interior oak veneer and terrazzo floors lend warmth and solidify the hospital system brand. Adjacent taller bed tower wings look down on the ACC’s attractive green roof. The building achieved LEED Silver certification.
