The renovation of this difficult to lease, lower level suite at 550 W. Adams began with a clear program. The building owner and manager wanted to transform the space into a viable tenant amenity that would allow them to foster connections between themselves and tenants as well as among tenants. The resulting lounge, Quincy’s, provides a flexible space with varying degrees of privacy and nodes of activity to accommodate a variety of uses. Three distinct areas – central bar, media center, and banquette seating – can be used individually by users during the day as well as in combination for one tenant event venue. The suite is anchored by the open, circular bar and custom refrigerator, where tenants can use a cutting-edge, yet simple card access system to obtain beverages without a staffed bartender. Adjacent to this hub is banquette seating where tenants can connect their computer to a monitor for a small meeting. Extending from the bar is a multi-media center that features a combination golf simulator, movie theater, console gaming area, and big screen sports viewing platform with different levels of seating.
Close coordination with the beverage vendor was required to ensure a seamless experience for the end users. The bar provides kiosks with touch-pad interface and multiple, automated beverage taps. At the media center, attention to sound attenuation and coordination with the media vendor ensured that noises do not disturb adjacent tenants, as well as protecting the media center from noise from the adjacent fitness center.
