This optometrist space, set in a vintage storefront at 2210 North Clark Street, integrates a boutique retail space with significantly larger office, exam and lab spaces in the 'back of house'. The owner wished to take advantage of the significant pedestrian traffic, adjacent to a well known school located across the street, by having an inviting, clean design to draw people in.
The design resolves two contrasting grids formed by the building's orthogonal sidewalls with the angled storefront along Clark Street. The design itself is kept minimalistic to focus on the eyewear displays. Reclaimed wood is used as an accent in the eyewear display cases to highlight the various mirror heights as well as defining the reception desk. LED lighting defines the implied ceiling height.
